Belgrade Open School

Belgrade Open School is a nonprofit, educational, civil society organization founded in 1993.

BOS develops human resources, improves public policies and strengthens the capacities of the civil, public and business sectors in order to develop a better society based on freedom, knowledge, and innovation.

The objectives of BOS are human resources development, improvement of public policies and capacity building. These goals are archived through educational programs, networking, and activities of programme areas – Good governance; Energy, climate, environment; European integration; Youth policies; Improvement of employability.

ALMIT Project has been realized within Improvement of employability programme area, which mission is to support individuals to respond to the challenges of active job search, getting and keeping job or internship, and improvement on personal and business plan. In the era of dynamic global labor market, frequent economic and social crises, it is required to develop new skills for career management, lifelong learning, and also to overcome transition challenges from education system to labor market (and vice versa, from labor market to education system, if it is needed)

The Improvement of Employability Team support continuing personal development, lifelong learning and global economic development through contribution to establishment system of career guidance and counseling and linking educational system and labor market.

Philanthropy

Philanthropy is Charitable Foundation of the Serbian Orthodox Church, performing emergency (humanitarian) and development programmes.

Philanthropy’s basic principle is respect human rights, which is reflected in providing help to all those in need, regardless of their race, gender, religion or sexuality.  Philanthropy has been established in 1991 as the Serbian Orthodox Church response to the growing humanitarian needs. In 2000. it starts their work in developing programs targeting marginalized and vulnerable social groups, such as children, elderly, people living with HIV/AIDS, terminally ill, persons with disability, etc. These programs include psycho-social support, courses for unemployed, economic empowerment programmes and local community capacity building programmes.

In summer 2015, due to the wars in the Middle East crisis, an influx of people started to come to Europe. Philanthropy, in cooperation with its international partners, initiated large-scale assistance operation and provided needed amounts of food, water, hygienic items, clothing, and cash assistance to refugees and asylum seekers in Serbia. Working closely with national and local authorities, as well as with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, Philanthropy continues providing assistance to this population currently residing in public asylum and reception centers in Serbia, as well as in shelters for victims of human trafficking and shelters for accommodation of unaccompanied minors.

Municipality of Šid

The Municipality of Šid is located in the north-west of Serbia, in the south-western part of Vojvodina on the triple border of Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and it is the second largest municipality in the territory of Srem. Due to its geographical position, there are seven border crossings on the territory of this municipality. The municipality includes 19 settlements with 34,188 inhabitants. The largest settlement is Šid, which is also the center of a municipality with about 15,000 inhabitants.

Since the beginning of the migrant crisis, over a million refugees from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Algeria, Morocco, etc. have passed through Šid municipality. Today in Šid there are three migrant centers: Adaševci, Principovac, and Šid. According to report of Commisariat for Refugees and Migration for January 2019, about 1200 migrants are currently in centers on the teritory of Šid.

Partner on ALMIT Project is Local Economic Development Office. LED Office kooperates with The National employment service in Serbia, prepares workforce information database, as well as Plan for education and prequalification in accordance with labor market needs. Also, it  provides information to the unemployed about self-employment, investors needs, and self-employment programmes.
